On Saturday 28th November, we hosted our first tasting afternoon. Over 150 people sampled the first few batches of farm-made cheese and visited our new dairy. We were joined by MP for Westmorland & Lonsdale and Leader of the Liberal Democrats, Tim Farron.
Our dairy is a new venture for us. Currently, we receive 17.1 per litre for our milk, far below what it costs to produce, so a bold decision was made and here are the results! It’s early days but each batch of cheese is getting better & better, and we’re excited about the future. Our cows graze in the meadows throughout the summer and are fed silage and concentrate feed during the winter. We’re excited to see how the variation in the cow’s diet will come through in our cheeses.
